KPMG LLP (U.K.) has been named Best Corporate Citizen at the 2005 European Practice Management Awards.
The 2005 European Practice Management Awards, organized by the Managing Partners Forum, a members association, is dedicated to enhancing leadership and the status of the management team in professional firms worldwide.

The shortlist for the ‘Best Corporate Citizen’ category included, Deloitte, Clifford Chance and Eversheds. KPMG in the U.K. was recognized for its approach to managing community and environmental impacts and making these issues an integral part of the way we do business, while adding business value.

Mike Kelly, Director of CSR for KPMG LLP (U.K.), said: “We are committed to our communities with more than 25 percent of KPMG staff in the U.K. involved in local volunteering schemes. Last year our total community investment in the UK was £4.3 million and is set to increase this year. We have had a positive impact on over 170 schools in the U.K., we have avoided 10,000 tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions and have made more than 1000 charitable donations.”

Acting as responsible corporate citizens reflects the core strengths of the global network of KPMG firms and their employees. KPMG firms are constantly evaluating and challenging our business processes to respond to the changing needs of our local communities and environment.

The judges commented on “the breadth, depth and strategic approach KPMG takes to corporate citizenship.”

KPMG’s Global Markets group was among the finalists in the ‘Best Human Resources Initiative’ category and was runner up for KPMG’s Global Achievement Awards Program. - ends -
